Autism Family Support Association
About AFSAThe Autism Family Support Association Inc. (AFSA) is incorporated in Victoria and is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.
BACKGROUND
Introducing AFSA
AFSA, as a parent driven organisation, aims to be an authentic and reliable source that can tell the stories of those who often are not listened to or who have no voice.
AFSA was formed by a group of parents in the 1980’s. AFSA has been a respected and valued member of many federal and state government reviews and working groups representing the family perspective – the ‘lived experience’. This involvement has been instrumental in advancing awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder by policy makers, service providers and the community. AFSA’s operating costs are covered by a state government Disability Self Help Group grant, investment and activity earnings.
