			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Families as Planning Partners is a six session program facilitated by members of the VALID Family Mentor Team. AFSA is assisting VALID to make this program <strong>available to families statewide FREE</strong> thanks to a very generous donation. Parents, primary carers and extended family members closely involved with an individual with an ASD are able to participate. And more than one family member is most welcome.</p>
<p>AFSA is sponsoring the provision of this program to ASD families and is covering all costs associated with presenting each program – venue, catering and materials as well as any additional costs incurred by families to enable them to attend the program, especially care and travel costs.</p>
<p>The Course Aims:<br />
This course is designed to assist parents/families of people with disability to get updated on the many changes in the disability services area. It can also assist to build on current circumstances and provide options to explore:<br />
• Planning – for now &amp; the future<br />
• Individual funding &amp; support<br />
• Their rights &amp; their family member’s rights under<br />
the new Disability Act</p>

On 15 April 2010, the then Federal Minister for Education, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, initiated a review of funding arrangements for schooling to develop a funding system which is transparent, fair, financially sustainable and effective in promoting excellent educational outcomes for all Australian students.</p>
<p>The review’s terms of reference require the review to report to the Federal Minister with responsibility for school education.
